Many years ago, there was a big push about Twitter marketing tools. Twitter was considered as a terrific new way of getting a list of people whom you could target to advertise your products. Cutting through the hype, just what sort of results can you look forward to after utilizing these Twitter marketing tools? Precisely how good is Twitter marketing? This article will examine the case for becoming involved and to see if it will actually repay your time and effort.
I was one of those who was curious to find out if getting a large following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion campaigns and so bought the tools. I signed up for programs that promised to get me followers on Twitter and paid for software tools to help promote my products. In total, I think I purchased about 8 software programs to help with my Twitter marketing adventure.
One of these software tools was an automatic 'people follower' on Twitter with the intention that some of those people would follow me also. Next there was the tool that would un-follow those who were not following me. Removing non-followers meant I could devote my attention on individuals who might be persuaded to follow me. Together with some other programs that are not really worth mentioning, I bought a program that would automatically take my blog posts and automatically Tweet them as soon as they were published on my blog.
I must say that the combined effect of employing all these software together produced great results since each program did as advertised. Nevertheless, my excitement was quickly squashed when I realized that I wasn't generating any money. Every day I would post more or less ten blog entries knowing that they would then automatically be shown on Twitter too. Then I found a way to have all the blog entries done for me automatically, assuming that the more posts I would have the more Twitter users who would see them.
So, the following are my results: Utilizing this strategy over three years resulted in almost 10,000 people following me on Twitter. And while you may think that is terrific, there's more. Also in the past three years I have had more than 15,000 of my blog posts that were advertising affiliate products tweeted to my Twitter account.
My blog posts showing on Twitter was the only form of advertising for that blog I did and to determine the effectiveness of Twitter I did not even ping new posts as they were published. Well, you can't say that 3 years isn't long enough to achieve decent results but using Twitter I just got 2 - 4 visitors each day to my blog. My affiliate earnings from 2 transactions was $47 and to that you can add $8.65 Adsense revenue - extremely dismal all around!
In short, having roughly ten thousand followers on Twitter using all these programs will not give you the results you desire. The bottom line is that the money I've generated is not sufficient to cover the cost of the Twitter programs I bought to start with. Finally, I cannot personally recommend using automatic software tools as a profitable method of promoting products on Twitter.
