Frequent Marketing Glitches Deadly To Online Business Success

By Amanda Mitchell

We all recognize the failure rate for individual online marketers is fairly high. Only about 20% of all new businesses in the US survive more than a few years. It is not possible to know all the individual reasons why so many people fail at internet marketing.

But if there was any one single biggest reason for failure, it would be making mistakes and miscalculation of all types. There is so much bad information on the net about how to generate an income on the net. But it does not matter why the mistakes are made - the only thing that counts is they are made and can produce disastrous results.

Just one mistake concerns the idea that if you offer enough things to your readers, then that will be a broad enough net to cover most situations. The tricky thing is that is a normal line of logic - to give people choices and options so there will be something for everybody. It can be difficult to speak in general terms, but we will say that when it comes to making sales online - too many choices can be deadly. The greatest approach is to avoid showing a menu of choices for your readers. When it boils down to making choices, or decisions, then far too many have a tough time with it. That can be particularly true with buying decisions. They can end up so indecisive that the very common result is nothing is bought!

If you are notoriously "cheap," then avoid making the assumption that the rest of the world is cheap, too. What we are getting at is the mistaken assumption that all people want the most rock bottom price. Take a look at watches, for example, there are cheap and expensive watches.

A few very upper-end products were around for many, many years. The simple fact that they have existed for so long automatically dispells any myth that all people are cheap. We can only guess why a person is willing to pay $10,000 for a watch. If you have a good to high quality product or service, then understand how to properly market your products/services. The important thing is for you to understand the marketing psychology behind expensive items.

Have you ever had the notion that a product or system was so great that everyone must want it, or that every person will buy it? All of us have at one time or another. Marketing history has its fair share of examples about products that appeared to be bought by almost everyone.

In terms of every person on the planet buying something from one company; we tend not to think that has happened - yet. What you need to be careful about is when you have that thought it will make you lazy in your promotional work. It will be so easy for you to wander the path of unrealistic anticipations once you have that frame of mind. It is delusional to consider any service/product will be well-received by everybody.
